Embarking on your first Umrah is a profound spiritual milestone. The feeling of anticipation to stand before the Kaaba and walk in the footsteps of prophets is a blessing beyond words. We understand that this excitement can also be mixed with questions about the process. What should I prepare? What are the steps?
This guide is here to bring you clarity and peace of mind. At Way Umrah, our purpose is to handle every detail of your journey, allowing you to focus completely on your devotion.
A successful journey begins with thoughtful preparation, both spiritually and practically.
The most important part of your preparation is setting your intention (Niyyah). Remind yourself why you are undertaking this sacred journey: to seek closeness to Allah (SWT), ask for forgiveness, and renew your faith. This sincere intention is the foundation of your entire Umrah.
While we manage the major logistics, here are a few things to consider:
Documents: Way Umrah will guide you through the entire visa process. We handle the application to ensure everything is in order for your travel.
Your dedicated Way Umrah guide will be with you to lead you through every step, but here is a simple overview of the beautiful rituals that form the Umrah.
Entering the State of Ihram: Before arriving in Makkah, you will enter a sacred state of purity known as Ihram. This is done by making your intention (niyyah) and wearing the appropriate Ihram clothing at a designated point called a Miqat.
Performing Tawaf: Upon arriving at the Masjid al-Haram, you will perform the Tawaf. This consists of circling the Kaaba seven times in a counter-clockwise direction, reciting prayers and supplications. It is a powerful act of devotion, symbolizing the unity of the believers in worship of the One God.
Performing Sa'i: After Tawaf, you will perform the Sa'i—walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah. This ritual honors the story of Hajar (RA), the wife of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), and her determined search for water for her son, Ismail (AS).
Completing the Umrah: The final step is to exit the state of Ihram. For men, this is done by shaving the head (Halq) or trimming the hair (Taqsir). For women, it involves cutting a small lock of hair. This act symbolizes a spiritual rebirth and the completion of your Umrah.
